N.C. Non-Profit Animal Rescue
Give a Freedom RideIn the rescue world, a “Freedom Ride” is that magical car ride out of an animal shelter for a dog. At first they are nervous, but there is a moment when they realize they are safe …. tongue out, tail wagging, a new chapter for them.
About Us
About Our N.C. Rescue
We are proud to be the crazy dog lovers who skip out on work to transport dogs from all over the state to their excited fosters’ homes; who stay up late searching shelter pages for that next “Freedom Ride” potential; who spend countless hours making rescue a reality!
Freedom Ride Rescue brings together individuals who share a love for dogs and a dream to see a no-kill state. Our foster-based network is in the Raleigh/Clayton, NC, area. We bring in dogs of all ages, sizes and breed mixes. We help to rehabilitate these animals – providing security, love, medical, and behavioral training as needed – until they can be adopted to their “fur-ever” homes.
We are foster based: we have no facility and every one of our adoptable (and not quite ready to be adopted) animals are in homes where families are teaching trust, love, basic manners …. preparing your future dog ready to be the best addition to your family that he can be!
As fosters, we are willing to have our heart break after we love, rehabilitate and nurse an unwanted, unloved animal until they prance away with their fur-ever person – often never looking back – as they start their most life’s wonderful chapter: the one as a cherished pet.
So join our road to making freedom rides happen! We are a wonderful, tight-knit family needing volunteers, fosters, donors – basically caring people willing to help in any way they can!

Tuesday Trivia!
Here are some fun facts about this very interesting-looking dog breed!
🧣🐾 Stay warm — it’s sweater weather! 🐾🧣
These adoptable cuties are bundled up, cozy, and absolutely rocking their winter looks. Proof that cold days are better with warm sweaters, happy pups, and maybe a little extra snuggle time.
If you’re looking for a dog to keep you warm all season long (emotionally and literally), one of these sweater models might just be your perfect match. ❄️💛

Everyone, say hello to our very own Bad Bunny — and she’s already stolen our hearts 💘 But this lovely lady came into the rescue heartworm positive, which means she is facing heartworm treatment. Heartworm treatment is long and expensive, but with your help, her future can be bright and full of belly rubs. 🐶💗
🌟 Will you help us cover her care? Your gift could make all the difference in her recovery and future adoption.
🙏 Donate here: www.freedom-ride.org/donate
Bad Bunny will start the search for her forever home soon. She does not have to be totally finished with her treatments to be adopted. If the right family for her is found before her treatments are finished, Freedom Ride will continue to cover the cost of treatments until she is heartworm-free.
Charleston is a 2-year-old small terrier mix with the gentlest soul. He’s been quietly settling in and showing a little more of himself each day. While he’s still on the shy and calm side, you can already see his confidence beginning to bloom—and we can’t wait to watch his personality continue to shine as he gets more comfortable.
This thoughtful boy loves lounging on the couch where he can keep a watchful, loving eye on his person. He’s a big fan of treats (a great motivator!) and has already mastered Sit and Down—pretty impressive for a pup who’s still finding his footing.
Charleston is wonderful on a leash and enjoys his walks, greeting everyone he meets with a friendly, easygoing demeanor. He takes life in stride, preferring a calm pace and steady companionship.
Charleston may still be learning who he is, but one thing is already clear: he’s a loving, loyal companion in the making. Stay tuned—this sweet boy’s story is just getting started, and we’re so excited to learn more about him in the days ahead.

We want to know - who is your pick to win???
While everyone’s gearing up for the big game and soaking in the cuteness of the Puppy Bowl, Freedom Ride has our own roster of Puppy MVPs just waiting to be drafted into forever homes.
These all-stars bring the real highlights—snuggles, tail wags, kisses, and unconditional love. The only tough call?
👉 Which one are you adding to your roster?
Head to our website to read more about each of our adoptable pups and submit an application. This season’s best pickup might just come with paws.
All the puppies shown here are currently 6 months old or younger, but we have amazing dogs of all ages that would be the perfect addition to any team!

Thinking about adopting? Sometimes size matters (and patience does too)!
One of the most common questions we get is: “How big will this puppy be?” While we can make educated guesses based on age, weight, and breed mix, the truth is—puppies are full of surprises, and we can never guarantee adult size.
Here is a helpful guide to show when dogs of different sizes usually stop growing, which can be an important thing to consider when deciding what age and what size dog might be the best fit for your lifestyle. If having a very specific adult size is important to you, an older puppy or adult dog may be a better match than a very young pup whose future size is still a mystery.
No matter their size, every dog deserves a home that’s ready to love them exactly as they grow.

Need a dog buddy? A watchful guardian against delivery drivers? An easygoing, respectful housemate? Nehi is your gal.
She loves her people and other dogs, enjoys walks and yard time, and is perfectly content curling up nearby (not glued to your side). Calm, gentle, crate-trained—and so trustworthy her foster doesn’t even crate her anymore.
Nehi’s a little shy at first, but beneath that is a heart full of love, just waiting for a forever home to help her truly shine. Could that be you?
