We are proud to be the crazy dog lovers who skip out on work to transport dogs from all over the state to their excited fosters’ homes; who stay up late searching shelter pages for that next “Freedom Ride” potential; who spend countless hours making rescue a reality!
Freedom Ride Rescue brings together individuals who share a love for dogs and a dream to see a no-kill state. Our foster-based network is in the Raleigh/Clayton, NC, area. We bring in dogs of all ages, sizes and breed mixes. We help to rehabilitate these animals – providing security, love, medical, and behavioral training as needed – until they can be adopted to their “fur-ever” homes.
We are foster based: we have no facility and every one of our adoptable (and not quite ready to be adopted) animals are in homes where families are teaching trust, love, basic manners …. preparing your future dog ready to be the best addition to your family that he can be!
As fosters, we are willing to have our heart break after we love, rehabilitate and nurse an unwanted, unloved animal until they prance away with their fur-ever person – often never looking back – as they start their most life’s wonderful chapter: the one as a cherished pet.
So join our road to making freedom rides happen! We are a wonderful, tight-knit family needing volunteers, fosters, donors – basically caring people willing to help in any way they can!

✨ FRR Alum Annie is a 10-month-old bundle of joy and truly the light of her family’s lives! She’s already dabbled in a few dog sports and has shown tons of potential. Her family can’t wait to see her shine in competitions as she grows older and more confident. 💪🐶
😂 Frisbee is her absolute favorite thing in the world, but don’t bother tossing her anything other than her dilapidated Chuckit! Rugged Flyer , because this girl has strong opinions!
👑 She’s never met a dog she doesn’t want to play with and loves every adventure that comes her way. From mountains to beaches, Annie has already explored all over North Carolina and does it with the confidence of a queen ruling her castle.
❤️After the heartbreaking loss of three beloved pets since last December, Annie has filled her family’s hearts with endless laughter and love.
🤓 Her DNA test revealed she’s 83% German Shepherd and 16% Golden Retriever, and that perfect mix shows in her smarts, loyalty, and big-hearted nature.
🐕💕As a proud foster “fail,” Annie has become the best foster sister, welcoming dogs of all ages and sizes with her gentle, nurturing spirit. Whether it’s playing, adventuring, or simply snuggling up at home, Annie makes every day brighter! 🌟

Freedom Ride Rescue’s annual Thanksgiving tradition is back — and we can’t wait to see you (and your pups!) on Thursday morning in Garner!
We’ve posted the new 5K route — construction at White Deer Park meant we had to get a little creative this year, but it’s still the same fun, fast, furry-friendly course you love. ❤️
🎉 Registration update: We’re thrilled to share that 939 runners are already signed up (5K, 1-mile, and virtual)! You can still register right up until race time Thursday morning!
🐶👟 Expect dogs, costumes, and all the Thanksgiving-morning energy!

TURKEY DAY count down! You can sign up right up until race time Thursday morning, but the price goes up a bit this eve! We`re thrilled that the registration is at 939 (including 5K, one mile and virtual participants).
Come join the party - parking is at Lake Benson Park and starting at 7 am is the check in, vendors, music and raffles (plus the starting Arch) at White Deer Park - follow the parade of runners and dogs - and hopefully lots of costumes - to the main event! The opening ceremony starts at 8:10 am.

Turkey Day 5k is quickly approaching! We have posted the new 5K route… Some construction at White Deer Park required us to get a little creative with the route this year!
We are hoping to see lots of dogs and costumes Thursday morning… And are excited we’ve had over 900 registered so far…

🌟🍀 Meet Orla & Auryn — Two Little Pups With Hearts of Pure Gold! 🍀🌟
These golden-yellow sweethearts are only 9–10 weeks old, but they’re already shining bright. Adopting either of these pups would truly feel like finding a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.
Both pups are at that perfect age where the world is exciting, new, and full of things to learn. They’ll need families ready to guide them through all the important puppy lessons — from building confidence to practicing manners to learning how to be the best dog they can be.

As adorable as Orla and Auryn are together, we do not adopt siblings to the same home. These golden treasures each need their own perfect forever family where they can grow independently and thrive.

What We Do
Rescue Dogs
We are proud to be the crazy dog lovers who skip out on work to transport dogs from all over the state to their excited fosters’ homes … who stay up late searching shelter pages for that next “Freedom Ride” potential …. who volunteer countless hours making rescue a reality!
Provide Medical Care
Freedom Ride Rescue provides all supplies (crates, food, bowls) and gets the animal in for a vet visit (for a spay, neuter and/or vaccines); we’ll also provide flea and heartworm preventatives. Anything and everything to make a happy and healthy pet!
Find A Home
We love, rehabilitate and nurse an unwanted, unloved animal until they prance away with their fur-ever person as they start their most life’s wonderful chapter: the one as a cherished pet.
Lost a Pet?
Freedom Ride Rescue partners with Petco Love Lost to make reuniting lost pets easier using image recognition technology to search a national lost and found database.
