N.C. Non-Profit Animal Rescue
Give a Freedom RideIn the rescue world, a “Freedom Ride” is that magical car ride out of an animal shelter for a dog. At first they are nervous, but there is a moment when they realize they are safe …. tongue out, tail wagging, a new chapter for them.
About Us
About Our N.C. Rescue
We are proud to be the crazy dog lovers who skip out on work to transport dogs from all over the state to their excited fosters’ homes; who stay up late searching shelter pages for that next “Freedom Ride” potential; who spend countless hours making rescue a reality!
Freedom Ride Rescue brings together individuals who share a love for dogs and a dream to see a no-kill state. Our foster-based network is in the Raleigh/Clayton, NC, area. We bring in dogs of all ages, sizes and breed mixes. We help to rehabilitate these animals – providing security, love, medical, and behavioral training as needed – until they can be adopted to their “fur-ever” homes.
We are foster based: we have no facility and every one of our adoptable (and not quite ready to be adopted) animals are in homes where families are teaching trust, love, basic manners …. preparing your future dog ready to be the best addition to your family that he can be!
As fosters, we are willing to have our heart break after we love, rehabilitate and nurse an unwanted, unloved animal until they prance away with their fur-ever person – often never looking back – as they start their most life’s wonderful chapter: the one as a cherished pet.
So join our road to making freedom rides happen! We are a wonderful, tight-knit family needing volunteers, fosters, donors – basically caring people willing to help in any way they can!

🐶🦋 FRR Alum Beau (FKA Sparky) is a fun-loving, 5-month-old social butterfly pup who has quickly become the heart of his family. He’s smart, playful, and always ready for an adventure!
🎾🚶♂️Whether he’s playing catch or going on long walks, Beau brings joy everywhere he goes.
🍻🐕 Beau LOVES people, and he’s already been to more local festivals, bars, restaurants, and breweries than most grown adults! His family takes him everywhere, and he thrives on being part of the action.
🛎️🐾 Beau is also a very clever boy! He rings the bell to go outside if he thinks one of his neighborhood dog friends might be waiting, and he gives the cutest side-eye when he’s trying to figure out what you’re up to 👀😂.
🥇✨ He’s extremely food-motivated, which has made training a breeze, and despite being a teething puppy, he has never chewed or damaged a single thing — impressive!
😴 At night, Beau runs upstairs all on his own and hops into his crate when he’s ready for bed, but in the mornings he loves to snuggle in bed with his humans for some extra love 🤍. His favorite toys are his BarkBox giraffe 🦒 and his beloved Lamby. 🐑
👵🐱Beau also has a much older feline sister — a dignified 19-year-old cat. He respectfully leaves her alone, but always keeps one eye on her, just in case she decides to do something interesting.
💛🐾 Beau’s family feels so blessed to have him as part of their lives. Adopting him is the best decision they’ve ever made!
👀 We absolutely love hearing about how our alumni are doing! Want to see your alum featured? Share their photos and stories on our alumni page—you could be our next spotlight!

🎄✨ Merry Christmas from all of us at Freedom Ride Rescue! ✨🎄
This year has given us so much to celebrate — countless lives saved, happy tails wagging, and an incredible community that shows up for dogs in need again and again. We hope that as you celebrate today, your hearts feel just as full as ours.
Wishing all of our amazing followers a joyful holiday filled with love, laughter, warm homes, and plenty of doggy snuggles. Thank you for being part of our Freedom Ride family — we couldn’t do this without you. 🐾❤️
Merry Christmas and happiest of holidays to you and yours! 🎁🐶
Huge, heartfelt thanks to Brad and Caitlin, the amazing bartenders at Raleigh Times, for once again donating all of their tips from a full shift to Freedom Ride Rescue. 🥂🐾
And double the gratitude to Empire Eats for matching their donation—because generosity loves company. 💙
Thanks to their kindness (and the generosity of some truly wonderful tippers), we’re thrilled to share that $2,800 is heading our way. This support will go directly toward much-needed medical care for dogs in our rescue, making a real and immediate impact.
We are endlessly grateful for this community and the people who show up for our pups again and again. Thank you for believing in our mission and helping us keep saving lives.
🎄🐾 The best part of the holidays? Seeing our alumni living their best lives 🐾🎄
From cozy couches to festive pajamas, this video is full of Freedom Ride Rescue alumni celebrating the season in the places they were always meant to be — their forever homes. These happy faces, wagging tails, and holiday snuggles are the reason we do what we do.
Thank you to every adopter who opened their heart and home, every foster who helped these pups along the way, and every supporter who made these moments possible. This is what happy tails look like. ❤️✨
Do you have holiday pics of your FRR alum? Drop them in the comments! We`d love to see them!
November was a month full of homecomings 🧡🐾
From wagging tails to happy tears, we’re celebrating all of the incredible dogs who found their forever families this November. Each adoption means a life changed, a couch claimed, and a heart made whole.
Thank you to our amazing adopters for opening your homes, our dedicated fosters for loving these pups until the right families came along, and our supporters for making it all possible. You are the reason these happy endings happen.
Here’s to new beginnings, full hearts, and lots of snuggles ahead. 💫
Happy tails, sweet pups — this is just the beginning of your best chapter yet.
We still have so many wonderful dogs hoping their turn to be adopted will come very soon! Visit our website to see the dogs available for adoption right now! www.freedom-ride.org
