N.C. Non-Profit Animal Rescue
Give a Freedom RideIn the rescue world, a “Freedom Ride” is that magical car ride out of an animal shelter for a dog. At first they are nervous, but there is a moment when they realize they are safe …. tongue out, tail wagging, a new chapter for them.
About Us
About Our N.C. Rescue
We are proud to be the crazy dog lovers who skip out on work to transport dogs from all over the state to their excited fosters’ homes; who stay up late searching shelter pages for that next “Freedom Ride” potential; who spend countless hours making rescue a reality!
Freedom Ride Rescue brings together individuals who share a love for dogs and a dream to see a no-kill state. Our foster-based network is in the Raleigh/Clayton, NC, area. We bring in dogs of all ages, sizes and breed mixes. We help to rehabilitate these animals – providing security, love, medical, and behavioral training as needed – until they can be adopted to their “fur-ever” homes.
We are foster based: we have no facility and every one of our adoptable (and not quite ready to be adopted) animals are in homes where families are teaching trust, love, basic manners …. preparing your future dog ready to be the best addition to your family that he can be!
As fosters, we are willing to have our heart break after we love, rehabilitate and nurse an unwanted, unloved animal until they prance away with their fur-ever person – often never looking back – as they start their most life’s wonderful chapter: the one as a cherished pet.
So join our road to making freedom rides happen! We are a wonderful, tight-knit family needing volunteers, fosters, donors – basically caring people willing to help in any way they can!

🚨🚨FOSTER NEEDED TODAY!!🚨🚨this sweet girl is URGENTLY in need of a foster today. She was surrendered to the shelter because her family could no longer afford to care for her. She is heartworm positive (we can easily treat that!) and for that reason is top of the list for euthanasia. She is dog friendly and just the sweetest and gentlest girl! Please help us save her. If you can foster, please email jennifer@freedom-ride.org today! Have upcoming travel plans? ✈️While we do have temporary fosters available, it is so important for incoming dogs to have at least two weeks to decompress and acclimate to their new foster homes-for this reason, please wait until after your travels to commit to fostering.
Somebunny as sweet as Thumper deserves a forever home! 🐰🐾
Thumper is a gorgeous black-and-white floof with a heart as soft as his coat—and plenty of growing left to do! Based on his current size, we’re guessing this handsome pup will grow to more than 80 pounds.
He may be a little shy when meeting someone new, but once he feels comfortable, his playful, cuddly personality comes hopping out. Thumper adores other dogs, tug-of-war, chasing toys, and splashing in his pool—or occasionally his water dish! 💦 He’s also doing wonderfully with house training, walks beautifully on a leash, and is learning to settle in his crate.
Named for the adorable bunny hops he did as a little pup, Thumper is ready to make one giant leap into a loving forever home. Could he hop into yours? 💙

We focus so much on the things we need to teach dogs, but don`t forget all the important lessons we can learn FROM them!
Fabulous Fiona is ready to find her forever family! 🐾💕
This lovely lady has oversized feet, a sweet spirit, and a promising future as a very large couch companion. She’s goofy, affectionate, house-trained, and happiest when she can stay close to her favorite person.
Fiona is still learning that the world isn’t one big surprise party, so leashes, unfamiliar sounds, and new experiences can take a little time. A patient home with a confident canine sibling to show her the ropes—and a securely fenced yard where she can safely explore—would help her continue building confidence.
Fiona is looking for a kind family ready to help her grow into both her enormous paws and her confidence. Could that be you? Apply to adopt her today! 💙

🚨🚨FOSTER NEEDED!🚨🚨Female St Bernard in need. This sweet girl was taken in by a family who saw her being given away on a Facebook post-and they didn’t want her to get into the wrong hands to they took her in and contacted us. She is 2-3 years old. We don’t know if she’s spayed (we can fix that), and it’s possible she might test positive for HW (we can treat that). She likes playing with the current caretakers dogs and is doing well with the three kids in the home, ages 5-15. She is house and crate trained. She is reportedly a little anxious around the husband so we want to be careful where we place her. We would highly recommend anyone interested meet her first-she’s located in Fayetteville so not too far. If you’re interested in fostering this girl, please email jennifer@freedom-ride.org today!
Kiwi has arrived for his forever-home interview. He`s ready to show he`s the best pup for the job of furry BFF.
His résumé includes extensive experience in cuddles, kisses, playtime, and making people smile. This funny, playful little guy loves his humans, enjoys romping with other dogs, and would be thrilled to have a canine playmate in his new home.
Kiwi is confident he’s the perfect candidate. All he needs now is a family ready to offer him the position! Apply to adopt him today.

Oakley and Palmer are sniffing out their forever homes! 🐾💕
These adorable hound mix puppies have perfected the puppy lifestyle: play hard, cuddle harder, and nap like it’s their full-time job. Oakley is a handsome, playful “little raptor” who loves toys, other dogs, and a good romp, while Palmer is a sweet, affectionate lap puppy with an impressive talent for snuggling.
Both pups are smart, loving, and ready to fill their future homes with adventures, laughter, and plenty of puppy kisses. Could Oakley or Palmer be the missing piece in your family? Apply to adopt today! 🐶
