N.C. Non-Profit Animal Rescue
Give a Freedom RideIn the rescue world, a “Freedom Ride” is that magical car ride out of an animal shelter for a dog. At first they are nervous, but there is a moment when they realize they are safe …. tongue out, tail wagging, a new chapter for them.
About Us
About Our N.C. Rescue
We are proud to be the crazy dog lovers who skip out on work to transport dogs from all over the state to their excited fosters’ homes; who stay up late searching shelter pages for that next “Freedom Ride” potential; who spend countless hours making rescue a reality!
Freedom Ride Rescue brings together individuals who share a love for dogs and a dream to see a no-kill state. Our foster-based network is in the Raleigh/Clayton, NC, area. We bring in dogs of all ages, sizes and breed mixes. We help to rehabilitate these animals – providing security, love, medical, and behavioral training as needed – until they can be adopted to their “fur-ever” homes.
We are foster based: we have no facility and every one of our adoptable (and not quite ready to be adopted) animals are in homes where families are teaching trust, love, basic manners …. preparing your future dog ready to be the best addition to your family that he can be!
As fosters, we are willing to have our heart break after we love, rehabilitate and nurse an unwanted, unloved animal until they prance away with their fur-ever person – often never looking back – as they start their most life’s wonderful chapter: the one as a cherished pet.
So join our road to making freedom rides happen! We are a wonderful, tight-knit family needing volunteers, fosters, donors – basically caring people willing to help in any way they can!

🕊️🐾 Meet Monk 🐾🕊️
Monk got his name from the monks marching for peace, who came through Raleigh a few weeks ago—and it fits him perfectly. This sweet puppy has a calm spirit, a gentle heart, and a way of bringing a little extra peace wherever he goes.
With big paws and an even bigger soul, Monk is growing into a thoughtful, loving pup who’s ready to share a lifetime of quiet moments, joyful walks, and unconditional love.
Looking to add a little peace (and a lot of puppy love) to your life? Monk is ready to march straight into your heart. 💛

This pretty lady is Poshey. She`s a senior Cocker Spaniel who has been with us for a few weeks now. She was being seen by our vets for a suspected UTI, but at her most recent visit, the vet discovered a very LARGE bladder stone! Poor Poshey will need surgery to remove the bladder stone (she also has a LOT of gunk on her teeth that needs to be removed while she`s under).
If you could donate even $5 toward her necessary surgery and dental cleaning, we would be so grateful 🙏🏻 We are expecting her medical costs to run between $1,000-$2,000...which is a big hit to our bank account!
If you aren`t in a position to help financially, please SHARE Poshey`s post to help us fund her medical care. 😊

Let`s help get her on the mend and headed to a forever retirement home! 🏡
PUPdate: Little bitty has a FOSTER!! 🎉🎉pictures don’t do her justice for how petite this little thing is! This girlie is in need of a foster as she has been spending a lot of time crated with her owners work schedule. She is 7 months old and a whopping 15 lbs! She is crate trained and dog friendly! Please email jennifer@freedom-ride.org if you can help!
🐶💛 All dogs are puppies. 💛🐶
Some just have more life experience… and maybe a few gray hairs. Whether they’re tiny or tall, young or seasoned, every dog is still a puppy at heart—ready for love, playtime, and someone to call their own.
From the zoomiest babies to the wisest old souls, our adoptable pups are proof that puppy energy isn’t about age—it’s about heart.
Because once a puppy, always a puppy. 🐾✨

Scrambling between storms to get as many dogs in warm homes was the theme of this week - just like last week! But the scrambles are only successful when we can find foster homes and transport! Thanks to everyone who made it possible go get this crew into Freedom Ride Rescue before the snow!
Please join our road trip if you can foster or volunteer!! We give dogs at least a week to decompress and let us start to see their true personalities before they are available for adoption. You can apply at freedom-ride.org to adopt, foster or volunteer!
Does your dog burrow under the covers? Sleep on a vent? Find the sunniest spot in the house?
Saving one dog will not change the world, but surely for that one dog, the world will change forever.”
